Grime Stories no 18: New painting and new offer

Writer's picture: Stuart JarvisStuart Jarvis

Hello, art lovers and collectors!

I'm thrilled to share some exciting news with you all. I've been quite active in my studio lately. There's nothing like a looming deadline that sparks my creativity.

Recently, I was working towards a deadline for the Royal Institute of Oil Painters' annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries. I was thrilled to have my painting, "Flume," included in last year’s exhibition. This year, I have submitted three new oil paintings. (see all three in images below)

Achieving four consecutive years of exhibitions with the ROI would mean eligibility for membership, a goal I'm ambitiously chasing before my 50th birthday!

I'm excited to introduce "Watchtower," (below) my latest oil painting and the smallest I've created in a while. This piece involved reworking an older study that I was not entirely happy with allowing me to infuse a little more energy and vibrancy into the canvas. The creative process was challenging and rewarding, breathing new life into an existing concept but tricky when trying to push paint around on such a small, wet surface.

Have a look at the evolution of "Watchtower" through time-lapse videos available on my Instagram. These glimpses will offer an engaging look into how the piece came together, capturing the essence of my process.

Thank you for your endless support.

Stuart
