Background

Stuart Jarvis is an artist, educator, and presenter whose work bridges the studio, the classroom, and the screen. An experienced teacher and former Director of Art in some of the UK’s leading independent and maintained schools, Stuart combines clarity of teaching with a deep passion for creative discovery.

As a practising artist, Stuart grew up in Birmingham, where the post-war concrete skyline shaped his early fascination with architecture and the overlooked corners of the urban landscape. His drawings and paintings often find unexpected beauty in derelict buildings, industrial relics, and so-called “ugly” spaces.

Stuart’s profile extends beyond education and the studio. He has appeared on Sky Arts’ Landscape Artist of the Year and is a presenter on the Artist of the Year Masterclass series, sharing accessible techniques with nationwide audiences.

Currently, Stuart is developing an exciting new six-part television series, Lines of Connection (working title). The programme takes art out of the gallery and into the underpasses, motorways, and hidden industrial spaces of Britain. Alongside well-known guests, Stuart explores how drawing and making with found materials can uncover stories, spark conversation, and connect us more deeply to place.
