About
I run an art department in a school in Suffolk and also teach private life drawing classes.
I generally try to prioritise the process of painting rather than use a subject to determine an outcome. I do, however, tend to lean towards industrial architecture regardless of its function or placement. Auerbach’s recent building site exhibition at Somerset House and Bernd and Hilla Becher’s work have both been very inspirational in recent months.
Art Classes
My weekly art class runs for ten weeks and fits into each academic term generally starting on the first or second Wednesday from 7-9pm. The students are mixed in ability and age but all share a genuine passion for the visual arts and help to form a relaxed but professional environment. Subject matter varies from nude model to still life depending on the consensus of the group. Often a art historical context is provided for students to appreciate the value in obtaining a reference for the drawing or painting they are about to begin. Concessions are available, all abilities welcome, some materials required. Please contact me for further information on prices and dates. stuart_jarvis@yahoo.co.uk
